Every time you make a change to any of the custom key mapping options, the two conversation script files that that are edited are saved to the \Backup\ folder under the installation directory for the Custom Key Map tool.

 

If at a later time you want to restore these files (for instance after upgrading Unity) you can select the "Restore backed up conversation scripts" option from under the File menu.
